Event Recap: @MetroFashionW Show and Oscar Viewing Party by @skymushisky Ft. @davidmonico

I had the honor of being invited to attend the Metropolitan Fashion Show and Oscar Viewing party on February 22nd. The event was held at Don Chente in Downtown Los Angeles and was originally planned as a rooftop show at the Fuego Lounge, but due to the rain it was held inside at the restaurant. The dress code was evening gowns for the ladies and suit and ties for the gentlemen, which gave the event a glamorous Hollywood feel and made everyone feel like they were part of the red carpet at the Oscars.

I brought my friend Will Chan as my photographer, together we enjoyed an evening of dining, watching the Oscars, and ended the night with the fashion show. The show displayed multiple designers such as David Tupaz, Julie Danforth, and Xavier Othon. They also displayed Luly Yang Couture and Shahla Dorriz’s designs around the restaurant, as well as other gowns from previous shows.

David Tupaz

These designs were gorgeous and timeless! All of the lace and beautiful embellishments had these models looking like movie stars. David’s designs were also showcased in the Fall show, but were brought back as a celebration to Metropolitan Fashion Week.

Xavier Othon

These Couture gowns and ensembles were beautiful yet different than the couture gowns we saw previously. Xavier’s designs were sleek and were made out of beautiful prints and fabrics with lovely details on each garment.

Julie Danforth

Julie was a surprise guest from Seattle who was invited to showcase her designs for the event. The gown on the far right is her actual wedding dress! Made with beautiful satin fabric and detailed embellishments, draping, and beading all around. She designed the two black dresses and made them for her collection. She also arrived to the show in one of her own designs that she had just finished making the day of! She was wearing a slit-skirt and blazer ensemble with a broach that pulled it all together.

Overall the event was a ton of fun! What do you think of these designs? Tell me in the comments below!

XOXO
