DIY: Party Hats & Paper Crowns @Miss_Lindo @AmongThorns13
What’s a party without some hats and crowns? I made these for Dynamite Editorials Kid’s at Play photo shoot back in January. Read on for instructions on how to make your own and check out some photos from the shoot. (Featured images by Katrina Brown & Rolf Juario)
Skill Level: Beginner
Time: 1 hour
12×12-Inch Cardstock (for the hats)
Tissue Paper (for the crowns)
First you want to choose your color and paper. I used a scrapbook paper pack that had a ton of fun colors. Print out your template and cut out the hats. Now with your glue stick, glue the top side of one of the edges and the bottom of the other. Place them together and hold with a paperclip to let dry.
While you are waiting for the glue to dry, cut the elastic string to be about 7-8 inches long depending on how you want your hat to fit. Once the glue dries you can staple the string ends to each side of your hat.
Now for the fun part, the decorating! This is where you can go wild. Use the hot glue gun and glue the trim down. Each one can be unique so have fun with it!
Here’s how mine turned out:
For the paper crowns you need to measure around your head and cut your tissue paper the length of your measurement and about 4 inches wide. Glue the edges together with your glue stick and let dry. Now fold in half 2 times, and cut out a V shape at the top, then unfold.
